We are happy to announce Tyler Barham as our latest Fresh Find here at Freshly Brewed Country!

If in today’s music environment, online followings are the foundation of an artist’s career, then Montana native Tyler Barham is looking solid as a rock.

This Country singer/songwriter, with a voice that has been described as ringing like a bell, has built a foundation of more than 50,000 dedicated online fans with nearly 9 million views. Born in Bozeman and raised in Florence, Montana, Tyler began singing

when he was nine. Although he enjoyed singing different styles of music, it did not take him long to realize his heart (and eventually his baritone voice) belonged to country music. In his early teens, Tyler competed and won various regional talent competitions, but also while in high school, Tyler discovered YouTube and began posting covers of his favorite country songs, which quickly introduced him to a worldwide audience.

In 2008 Tyler made the leap from computer screen to TV screen as a finalist on Great American Country’s nationwide talent search, Next GAC Star, and in the next few years was featured on E!’s Opening Act based on his YouTube following and was the winner of nationally syndicated radio host Radio Lia’s Your Big Break contest.

In September of 2010, with the help of industry veterans John Griffin and Dave Flint, Tyler released an independent self-titled EP that reached No. 39 on the iTunes Country Album Chart. His follow-up EP, titled Twenty-One, which was released on March 21st 2011, his 21st birthday, cruised its way up the iTunes Country Album Chart to #19. Building on the sales success of his previous releases, Tyler's most recent original release, Don't Cage This Heart, debuted at #56 on the Billboard Country Album Chart and #19 on the Billboard Heatseekers Album Chart which charts album titles from new or developing acts in all formats.

Tyler has also enjoyed success at GrassRoots radio with singles “17 & Young,” “Meet Me In Montana,” and the original holiday song “Coal In Your Stocking This Year” and has just shipped his new single, “More Than A Cotton Dress” to radio nationally which is being lauded by programmers as the catchy and compelling answer to the proliferation of “Bro Country.”

Tyler’s fans are not simply online. He was named one of the Country Music Association’s (CMA) “Who New to Watch in 2013” and was recently named one of Billboard’s “10 Country Artists to Watch in 2014.” And he received the ultimate compliment when Blake Shelton shared both Tyler’s covers of “Austin” and “Honey Bee” with his fans, Brett Eldredge tweeted Tyler’s cover of “Don’t Ya” to his Twitter following and Darius Rucker began using Tyler’s cover of “Come Back Song” in his live concerts.

But Tyler says his greatest honor has been to see the process come full circle as his original songs are now being covered by aspiring singers on YouTube.

In an industry that is coming to terms with the new model of music discovery, Tyler is steadily building on his solid foundation with a house that welcomes country music fans of all ages who love meaningful lyrics, catchy melodies and a sparkling vocal delivery. Find Tyler online on his website, social media platforms or iTunes and you will hear why.

Want to know more about Tyler Barham? If so, then check out our interview with this talented country singer.

FBC: What made you want to get involved in the country music world?

TB: I wanted to get involved in the Country music world because my parents introduced me to the genre at an early age and I’ve always loved the stories that the songs told. I grew up listening to 90’s Country and looked up to a lot of different artists such as George Strait, Garth Brooks, Tim Mcgraw, Kenny Chesney, Clint Black, & Tracy Lawrence just to name a few. Country is where I belong and I wouldn’t want to be in any other genre.

FBC: What song of yours is your favorite and why?

TB: It’s so hard to choose a favorite song because I am so proud of all the original songs released over the years. I'd have to say my favorite of them all is actually the very first one I ever was a writer on. It's called "17 & Young" & I wrote it with John Griffin. Doing covers on YouTube, I never dreamed I would have original songs. This was the song that started it all & made that dream come true. The song was inspired by a high school relationship that I had & even gives a shoutout to my homestate of Montana.

FBC: What do you use for inspiration to write your songs?

TB: I find inspiration for my songs in a lot of different places. Some of my songs are inspired by personal experiences that I’ve been through or are going on in my life, things others have been through that I have witnessed or heard about, and sometimes song ideas just come from things people say. I often think about what would make a good song title or “hook” and then a story is built around that.

FBC: Who is your country music idol and why?

TB: My Country music idol is Garth Brooks. He’s always been one of my favorites growing up. He’s learned how to truly entertain country music fans and give them a concert they’ll never forget. Plus a big thing that I respect is when country artists know that they don’t have to be a writer on a song for it to be an amazing well written song. Some country artists feel they have to write all their own music. But I’ve always believed there are incredible songs out there that just need a singer to perform them. Garth Brooks is one of those artists who always has just known what makes a great song.

FBC: What are three fun facts about you that you want your fans to know?

TB: Hmmmmmm. Well first off, I enjoy playing games. So I actually have quite a few “Words with Friends” games going with some of my fans. I enjoy interacting with my fans on a level where it isn’t just music related. Words with Friends is a good way for me to do that. Second fact is that I enjoy playing basketball. I mean, I enjoy a lot of sports in general. Mainly just watching them now, but in high school, I played a lot of sports & basketball was probably my favorite. Either that or Bowling, because yes, I was in a bowling league for 2 years and even had my own bowling ball, but shhhhhhh, don’t tell anybody. Last fun fact about me is a random one. I actually broke my left leg twice when I was a toddler. I climbed up on a table, fell off, broke my leg and had a cast on for a long while. Well believe it or not, the WEEK I got my cast off, I climbed up on the heater, fell off & broke it again. My parents were not happy. Funny thing is, now that I’m grown up, I’m partially afraid of heights haha.
