We are happy to announce the talented Tony McKee as our latest Fresh Find here at Freshly Brewed Country!

A native of Campbellsville, KY, it’s clear this artist always had music in his blood. His entire family sang or played a musical instrument. With his mother’s love of Elvis Presley and his father’s love for George Jones and Buck Owens, these three legends became a staple in his life. This lit a fire in McKee that could not be put out.
Describing his style and sound as real, organic and country, his surreal feeling as a performer came at his high school graduation senior class show where he took the stage and performed Friends are Friends Forever by Michael W. Smith. As he gears up for an endless career, “I want to connect with everyone I meet.
Sure, I have the starry-eyed goals of winning this award and that award and being adored by my fellow recording artists, but the main thing for me is to always be a person that the fans come up to me and say, ‘you’re real and that’s what I love about you.’
Country music and patriotism have always gone hand in hand. American anthems have been a fan-favorite for decades now and new country artist Tony McKee continues to push those boundaries with the release of his new single, Problem With Me (featuring Eric Lee Beddingfield). Fans can download the song now on iTunes and all digital platforms. Radio stations can download the song now on PlayMPE.
Produced by Eric Lee Beddingfield and co-written by McKee and Rob Crosby (Martina McBride, Lee Brice, Brooks & Dunn, etc), Problem With Me is the first release off McKee’s self-titled album, which will be released Fall 2017.
This song makes a statement. A statement about the world we are living in and some of the issues we are facing. “Everything that I loved about America was becoming a PC issue,” says McKee. “You can’t say the pledge at school because someone gets offended. You can’t pray at football games and everyone bends over backwards for other countries. We basically crafted all this anger into a song.”
After kick starting 2017 with a successful tour down under in Australia, performing at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and attending Country Radio Seminar, performing and doing endless media interviews, he’s ready for an unstoppable year ahead. Coming off the heels of his last release Lightning Bugs, which was a heart-felt, lighthearted tune off his last project American Dream, produced by Grammy-nominated Kent Wells (Dolly Parton).
McKee is bringing a new sound while still staying true to who he is as an artist., He is now on the road pushing those boundaries, seeping in infectious melodies while injecting emotion into the music.

We know you want to know more about Tony so be sure to check out our interview with him.
FBC: What made you want to get involved in the country music world?
TK: I cut my teeth on George Jones and Buck Owens. Out of all the music genres there are, country music just feels natural. It feels like home.
FBC: What do you use for inspiration to write your songs?
TK: I don’t write everyday. I write when it feels right for me. If I've been touched or moved by something and I keep going back to it in my mind, then I write about it.

FBC: What was the backstory/inspiration behind your song “Problem With Me”?
TK: "Problem With Me” was born out of the frustration of having to sit back and watch the values and traditions of America getting tossed out the window all for the sake of some new “progressive” thinking. Like removing the American flag. You don't mess with the flag.
FBC: Who is your country music idol and why?
TK: It’s hard to pin point just one country music idol. There's several guys that come to mind. Haggard, Jones, Toby Keith and Eric Church are all guys I respect, cause they all have something to say and they are/were men of their word.
FBC: If you could perform a duet with anyone, who would it be and why?
TK: I think it’d be cool to duet with Kacey Musgraves. Again, she's an artist that has something to say. I like her personality and I think our voices would blend great together.
FBC: What are three fun facts about you that you want your fans to know?
TK: Three fun facts, let’s see. I love horror movies and old Hollywood movies. The black and white stuff. I love to make a weekend out of camping, fishing and hiking. And I love making people laugh with my cynical, dry and unhinged since of humor.
