We are happy to announce Derek Andrew as our latest Fresh Find here at Freshly Brewed Country!

Country music has always been known for its brutally honest storytelling, great musicianship and relatable stars. New country artist Derek Andrew certainly holds up this legacy. Growing up just outside of Nashville, Tennessee, Derek caught the country music bug early on.

Derek began singing at the age of 4 and was writing his own songs and playing guitar by 14. Almost immediately he began performing and hasn't slowed down since. His years working as an EMT have given him a "no quit" work ethic and a unique perspective on life from which he draws songwriting inspiration.

With his new self-titled EP entitled, Derek has found his stride. The single, titled "All This Time”, has already garnered radio play on multiple stations.

Derek has opened for popular the band Sundy Best, and continues to perform regularly in venues such as the Hard Rock Cafe Atlanta, Gibson Guitar in Nashville, and even recently was asked to play a private party for Budweiser. Derek is starting to gain attention of major labels, booking agents, and artist management companies!

Check out Derek Andrew and you will see and hear the pillars of great country music coming together again...brutally honest songwriting, great musicianship, and a relatable star on the rise.

We know you want to know more about Derek Andrew so be sure to check out our interview with him below.

FBC: What made you want to get involved in the country music world?

DA: My father. He was my biggest inspiration for music in general. He was always singing traditional country music and playing guitar while we were growing up and he always seemed to love it. I can remember nights when we would have bad storms and the power would go out, dad would grab his guitar and just start playing. Nothing helped easy the tension quite like hearing him sing.

FBC: What is your favorite song on your upcoming EP and why?

DA: I’d have to say “Say Goodbye” is probably my favorite song off the EP. When we wrote the song we immediately knew the weight it carried. The potential for it was amazing. Even though it isn’t a personal reflection of my life, the song speaks to many people; it tells a story. I want to write songs that people can relate to, regardless of their current situation.

FBC: Who is your country music idol and why?

DA: Hmm…there are so many. If I had to narrow it down I believe it would probably be Eric Church. Why? Because he’s Eric Damn Church! Haha. He is a very, very talented singer/songwriter. He fought for what he has and isn’t afraid to show it. He’s always going to be himself. Loves God, his family and his music. What else is there? I’d say he’s my true county Idol!

FBC: If you could do a country duet with anyone who would it be and why?

DA: Miranda Lambert. She has the perfect amount of country and sass. Her voice is amazing. I consider her the female version of Eric Church. She’s your traditional country singer wrapped in modern style with a kick ass rock star attitude.

FBC: What are three fun facts about you that you want your fans to know?

DA: Oh man….3 things. Ok 1) I LOVE to cook. While growing up I’d sit on the counter and watch my mom cook almost every night. I love trying out new things. 2) I am absolutely terrified of spiders. Can’t explain it, but man. No. 3) Although I LOVE to cook, I can’t STAND to hear people eat. Drives me crazy!
