Country music singer/songwriter Lindsay Broughton has been making waves in the Canadian music scene, already receiving acclaim by her peers by winning the “Rising Star Award” at the inaugural CMAO Awards in 2013 and as featured artist of the month by the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), and securing a featured spot in Songwriter Universe Magazine.
Signed to premiere Canadian independent label Curve Music, her career is on the rise, having already performed in front of thousands of fans, including the Canadian Country Music Awards “New Artist” showcase and followed up with multiple showcases at the Country Music Week. Lindsay also played in Nashville, Tennessee on the Billy Block Show multiple times, and had multiple performances at the Boots and Heart’s Festival in the summer of 2012 and 2013.
“Each and every show I play is a completely different experience whether it’s because of the crowd the venue or both; I think that’s why the thrill of performing so incredible to me. That feeling of excitement never gets old!” says Lindsay.
Set to release her debut album in the June of 2014, following up her self-titled EP release in 2012, the enchanting Brooklin, Ontario native continues to grow as a recording artist and musical composer by drawing inspiration for her songs from all walks of life, having written over 100 songs to date. Whether it is personal emotions, movies, dreams, or whatever the experience, Lindsay will pen a tune based on what she recognizes as a realistic situation relatable to others.
Sharing the stage with the likes of Chad Brownlee, Emerson Drive and Gord Bamford, whom she recently shared the stage with on the CCMA Awards, only adds to her accomplishments, which include being voted Overall Musician Of The Year as well as Country Musician Of The Year at the Radio Nation Music Awards. In addition Lindsay is appearing as a model in the 2013 and 2014 Catalogue for LUG www.luglife.com, as well as working closely with LUG on a number of Marketing and Promotional campaigns. Lindsay Broughton’s first single “Restless As The Rain” made the Top 100 songs of 2012 on KX96, and Lindsay’s follow up single “River Wide Enough Song” and “Never Saw It Coming” went Top 40.
Lindsay’s new single and Video “Take Me There” from her upcoming album is at Radio and CMT now and the song is already climbed its way into the Country Radio Charts. Look for Lindsay playing Country festivals this Summer across Canada.

We know you want to know more about Lindsay Broughton so be sure to check out our interview with her below.
FBC: What made you want to get involved in the country music world?
LB: My upbringing! I grew up in a home where country music was playing on the radio from the moment I woke up to when I would get ready for bed, so naturally I latched on to it and have had a love for it for as long as I can remember. My mother also sang in country music cover band when I was younger and watching her sing on stage was the COOLEST thing I had ever seen at that time and really inspired me to pursue a career in country music.
FBC: What is your inspiration for writing songs?
LB: Inspiration is funny. For me, it comes from all different places but more often than not it comes from personal experiences. I find during my most extreme emotions whether good or bad, I write my best material that audiences connect with and can grasp on to. I think when anyone writes songs from a personal place and perspective the audience is able to tell because of the level of raw, honest feeling to that goes into the creation process which is why I try to really pull experiences from my personal life and write songs about them.
FBC: What is your favorite song and why?
LB: This is a loaded and unfair question (haha!) I listen to music all day every day and have WAY more than one favourite song. There are just too many great songs in the world to choose from! HOWEVER.. the most current one that I'm loving is Chris Janson's Buy Me A Boat. It's a refreshing twist to a song but so simple and in my mind is the perfect combination of the country twang with the rock edge with a clever lyric that I love. It's one of those songs that makes me want to roll my windows down and sing it out.
FBC: Who is your country idol and why?
LB: Wynonna Judd, hands down. She's a powerhouse singer/songwriter and musician and is the entire package of everything I feel like an artist should encompass. I grew up singing all the Judds tapes (yes tapes) in my cassette player all year round and if I ever had the opportunity to meet her I'm not even sure I could muster any words together to explain to her how much I idolize her.
FBC: If you could do a country duet with anyone who would it be any why?
LB: Dallas Smith! I've had the opportunity to play a few shows alongside him and HOLY CROW can that guy sing! I love his songs, showmanship and obviously his voice. I would love to have the chance to sing with a fellow Canadian I admire.
FBC: What are three fun facts about you that you want your fans to know?
LB: 1. I am a true Canadian. Before I was able to play music for a living I was supporting myself by driving a Zamboni.
2. I'm a vegetarian now for 3 years ONLY because I watched Food Inc on Netflix and it terrified me. (I still like the smell of bacon)
3. I played in a Jazz band for years and can rip a mean Alto Saxophone solo.
