We are happy to announce the talented Kristi Hoopes as our latest Fresh Find here at Freshly Brewed Country!

Whether you ask Country Perspective, Queens of Country, Relate Magazine, or any of the other numerous reviewers, newspapers, blogs and radio stations that she has spoken with, there’s one thing they can all agree on – Kristi Hoopes has the “tried and true music that country radio needs.”

With eight years of vocal experience, 30+ awards in country music, and two guitars under her belt, four-time “Songwriter of the Year" and five-time "New Country Female Entertainer of the Year” Kristi Hoopes is creating the country music of tomorrow – today.

Kristi’s first album began to take shape within the iconic walls of RCA Studio A (Grand Victor Sound) in Nashville, Tennessee after winning a songwriting contest sponsored by Lyricord. While the album is still a work in progress, two singles – “At Least It’s Something” and “In My Own Sweet Time” have been released and are currently available on iTunes, Spotify, Ghosttunes, and 30 other online music outlets.

Born on Valentine’s Day, this Colorado native found her love for the stage at the age of 2, entertaining everyone from atop the family room coffee table. Her passion for singing presented itself during her 3rd grade talent show while singing Loretta Lynn’s version of Nancy Sinatra’s, “These Boots Are Made For Walking”.

Later that year, Kristi was recruited by a musical theater troupe and began to develop her skills as a live performer. But in the back of her mind, she felt as though a piece of her was missing, which she would discover in the hand-written lyrics and chord charts scattered about her bedroom floor; that piece was her love for writing country music.

With a notebook full of original songs and guitar in hand, Kristi began competing locally with the CCMA (Colorado Country Music Association) to hone her talent. Over the next three years, she would win numerous awards in country, western, and gospel music for “Female Entertainer of the Year” and “Female Vocalist of the Year”.

It was her first “Songwriter of the Year” award that led her to represent Colorado at the NACMAI (North American Country Music Association International) competition in Tennessee and win the international titles of “Female Entertainer of the Year” and “Songwriter of the Year”.

In the years since, Kristi has been an opening act for well-known Colorado bands like the Blue Canyon Boys and Fireweed, as well as nationally-acclaimed acts such as Wynonna Judd and the Big Noise, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Kenny Rogers. As a headliner, her eclectic musical footprint has been left everywhere from local county fairs to the National Western Stockshow, the Colorado State Fair, and the Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Kristi Hoopes may be a small-town girl, but her music promises to take her fans on a Mile High ride.

We know you want to know more about Kristi Hoopes so be sure to check out our interview with her.

FBC: What made you want to get involved in the country music world?

KH: I’ve loved country music ever since I was a little girl. It’s what I grew up on. Artists like Loretta Lynn, Stephen Stills, John Denver, and Dolly Parton were my heroes. After I sang Loretta’s version of “These Boots Are Made For Walking” in my 3 rd grade talent show, I knew that I wanted to be a singer-songwriter.

FBC: What do you use for inspiration to write your songs?

KH: Every song I write is about something I’ve experienced. Each one is meant to tell a different story of my life. My songwriting is deeply personal, and that’s the way I think it should be.

FBC: What was your reaction when you found out Dierks Bentley shared your cover of “Different For Girls”?

KH: Complete shock. I was actually headed to Nashville to move into my college dorm when it happened. My phone just started blowing up with notifications and when I saw the video on Dierk’s social media, I couldn’t believe it! I feel incredibly humbled and honored that out of all the cover videos for “Different For Girls” online, he shared mine with his fans. It was definitely a once-in- a-lifetime moment.

FBC: What has been your favorite memory of performing so far?

KH: I would have to say recording at RCA Studio A (Grand Victor Sound) in Nashville two years ago. To have the opportunity to spend a day working with some of the industry’s top musicians and engineers in such an iconic studio was just an absolute blessing. I’ll never forget how much fun we had making music together!

FBC: Who is your country music idol and why?

KH: Kacey Musgraves. She’s not afraid to stick to her guns and make the music she believes in. Her voice just has that classic twang that made me fall in love with country to begin with. Plus, I love the neon cactus lights she uses on stage when she performs!

FBC: If you could perform a duet with anyone who would it be with and why?

KH: Loretta Lynn. She inspired the 10 year-old girl in me to become a country singer. One of the first songs my dad played for me on his turntable was “Coal Miners Daughter”, so I’ll always have a special place in my heart for her.

FBC: What are three fun facts about you that you want your fans to know?

KH: 1) Even though I’m a Colorado native, I have never gone skiing. I know, I know! It’s a tragedy. Someone’s going to have to take me on the slopes one of these days! 2) When I was little, I had thick, curly hair so my parents nicknamed me “Pepsi Girl”. 3) I’m a huge foodie. My mom is an amazing cook, so she passed the food-loving gene down to me. If I could pick one dish of hers to eat for the rest of my life, it would have to be German dumpling soup.
