We are happy to announce the talented country duo, Spinn as our latest Fresh Find here at Freshly Brewed Country!

Female country powerhouse Spinn releases their new single “City Country” the title track off their EP, City Country. With roots in New Jersey and hearts in country music, twin songwriters Cheryl Lynn and Stephanie Spinner blend unforgettable imagery, chill-inducing harmonies, and witty lyrics together to create a country sound all their own: City Country.

Described by Spinn as "Sassy sweetness with a bit of edge", City Country challenges the preconceived notion that only people who live in the South or Midwest love country music. Being born and raised in New Jersey, they can solidly attest to the fact that country music enthusiasts are EVERYWHERE, and growing in numbers by the minute.

The Spinn girls have been a songwriting team since they were 5 years old writing for many styles along the way, but they truly found their hearts and voices live in country music. The stories shared and connections made with the country audience is unlike any other genre of music, and that kinship is one Spinn hopes to grow with every song they write. For the City Country EP the twins are joined by singer, friend, and fellow country music lover Megan Battaglia who lent her vocals to add another level of harmonic flare to this fun, fresh collection of songs.

“Spinn is a powerhouse of superb vocalists whose flawless harmonies never fail to amaze. Initially settling into a comfortable kind of folk rock groove, over the years, these young women have continually evolved and refined who they are as artists.” The Examiner says of Spinn’s new single.

Life Of A Rockstar says, "Blowing the door "wide open" on the idea that, "who you are is where you're from," the girls from Spinn take two parts rock, three parts country and five parts heart and soul to make this song a perfect ten." Rock Meets Country defines the band: "Spinn is a blended cocktail of country, rock and pop, an intoxicating combination that leaves you wanting more."

Spinn has been featured on select college radio stations, NJ’s WDHA and Sirius XM's Wake Up! With Taylor, and are currently amidst a national Country Radio campaign with their single "City Country" playing on Country Stations all over America! They have performed at iconic NYC venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Arlene’s Grocery, The Bitter End, The Cutting Room, Hill Country BBQ and more.

We know you want to know more about Spinn so be sure to check out our interview with the powerhouse duo.

FBC: What made you want to get involved in the country music world?

Spinn: To us, country music has always been about family. Our family and friends are top priority to us, we're always there for each other, and we feel that country music is the genre that represents those values. Whether it's the actual people or melodies and lyrics helping you through whatever struggle you're going through, country music has your back, and we've always wanted to be a part of that huge extended family.

FBC: What do you use for inspiration to write your songs?

Spinn: We usually draw from personal experiences, and one of the coolest parts of that is each song is kind of a time capsule - whether those experiences are good or bad, they're a part of you and they make you the person you are. As music lovers, there is nothing more captivating than a song you can connect with on a deeper level. We also sometimes write about what we hope and dream will happen, almost like sending a wish into the universe so it will come true!

FBC: What is the back story to your song "City Country"?

Spinn: We grew up and still live right outside New York City, and for a long time we didn't have a country radio station so people in our area really weren't exposed to country music, and because of that they kind of resisted it! We wrote "City Country" because we truly feel that anyone from a big city to a small farm town can be a country music fan or performer as long as they have a love and passion for it! It has been really exciting to find out that over the last few months how many people agree with that notion!

FBC: What was your experience like on NASH Next?

Spinn: The whole Nash Next experience was the most exciting time in our career to date! Starting with the online contest, moving on to winning the live competition at Hill Country BBQ in Manhattan, which then lead to representing New York City and Nash FM 94.7 in Nashville for the finals with special guest Trent Harmon! It was chaotic and incredible and the time of our lives! We fell in love with Nashville and met so many amazing people along the way that we will never forget!

FBC: We heard you've been writing songs together since you were 5 years old. Do you remember the name of the first song you wrote and what was it about?

Spinn: Oh boy yes! It was just a chorus really, looking back the melody line wasn't the worst but the lyrics were so cheesy! It was about some sort of drama on the playground! Ah to still have only 5 year Olds' problems to write about!

FBC: Who is your country music idol and why?

Spinn: Dolly Parton! Besides the fact that she's an incredible singer, songwriter and performer and has the most amazing, genuine personality, she is always 100% herself and never apologizes for it. All women should feel as comfortable in their own skin as Dolly, and we strive to be more like her not only as performers but as strong women in general!

FBC: What are three fun facts about you that you want your fans to know?

Spinn: The only thing we can eat before shows is pizza. We are mirror twins, so when we look at each other it's like "looking in a mirror!" Our features are opposite, Steph us a lefty, Cheryl is right-handed, our parts in our hair are opposite - down to a gap in our bottom teeth! And the third is we truly believe everything happens for a reason, I guess you could call it a family mantra...
