Album Review: Road Less Traveled

Our Fresh Find Alyssa Bonagura is a rising country artist on the indie country music scene. Her highly anticipated album Road Less Traveled, will prove to you that she was born to make music.
This album has ten unique tracks, five of which were written solely by Bonagura herself. She prides herself on using real life events for inspiration.
“I think it’s important for me to write my truth so that it’s always genuine when people hear it. Music has always saved me whenever I needed it,” according to Bonagura.
Through this philosophy Bonagura relates to her audience and has even had the honor of being the only solo writer on Steven Tyler’s debut country album with the song I Make My Own Sunshine.
When it comes time to choose a favorite from her own album Bonagura would have to say Rebel, “because that song came to me at such a time of need. It was really written as a prayer when I needed to be reminded that we are all humans trying to figure out who we are. I’m also really proud of the music video I did with my friend Dallas Wilson. We shot it in my backyard in Franklin, Tennessee and CMT just featured it on their artist discovery program!”
Rebel is one of our favorites as well! This song resonates with every one who is trying to find themselves and who they are supposed to be in this world. As the song represents her journey the music and lyrics grow as the song continues. We love that despite the struggle felt within the song she shares the message that awe are all the same in this world just trying to find out where we belong.
Bonagura’s Who I Want The World To See also reflects this struggle of finding one’s place in the world rather than losing oneself. In a world with such high expectations it is easy to lose yourself and become someone else, but at the end of the day you have to be what you would want the world to remember you by.
I Wanna Marry You is one of the more bubbly songs on the album. The point of view of this song is refreshing as it focuses on why the woman wants to get married rather than the other way around.
This tone is continued in Like A Child where Bonagura describes the vulnerability of falling for someone and how like a child you are counting on the other to catch you and teach you about a while new world. Anyone who is afraid of taking the next step in a new relationship can relate to this song with the fear and excitement of losing all control.
