We are happy to announce the talented Sam Brooker as our latest Fresh Find here at Freshly Brewed Country!

Reared among the humble community of Green Bay, WI, Sam took to both piano and guitar via lessons from his dad. He would transition to Music City after high school and honed his songwriting craft and music business knowledge.

After development deals with DreamWorks and RCA, he found his performance footing as the duo Sam & Ruby with his friend Ruby Amanfu. They would go on to release The Here and Now that the Associated Presspro claimed as “Album of the Year.” Songs from the duo were licensed to TV and film including major motion picture releases “The Secret Life of Bees” and “Hope Springs.” He would step out of the performance world for a period to garner record breaking success in the publishing arena.

Founding Artist Revolution (AR), a publishing company, the company’s first cut would become Billboard’s longest running #1 and the “Top Selling Country Song of All Time” with the release of Cruise by Florida Georgia Line, co-written by his writer Jesse Rice. AR would go on to secure additional cuts with Florida Georgia Line and acts like Kristian Bush, Chase Rice and Colt Ford.

Also in the business arena, he founded Remix Hits with Matt Wilder, a tech company that is developing software to automate the process of sampling and licensing to create new revenue streams for the entire music ecosystem.

With the catalog of works that he had built along the journey since Sam & Ruby, he compiled his top selections across the country and adult contemporary genre and will be releasing a full self-title EP in 2017 featuring the debut single Stay.

We know you want to know more about Sam Brooker so be sure to check out our interview with him.

FBC: What made you want to get involved in the country music world?

SB: I suppose it was inevitable having moved here to pursue a career in music. My roots come from

a place of folk country with artists like James Taylor and Jim Croce. I've always been most

comfortable singing with a guitar in hand. Nashville's circles are small and I landed in a few that

epitomized the country music scene.

FBC: What do you use for inspiration to write your songs?

SB: I'd have to say I pull from experiences either personally or through watching and listening to

other people's experiences. I rarely write a song that is exactly about something or someone

specifically. It's usually a conglomeration of all the emotions around me.

FBC: What is the back story to your song "Stay"?

SB: I had a co-write with my buddy Brent Anderson, and I usually like to come in with at least a

melody, so I played him the chorus idea and he dug it. We were both dealing with some

relationship stuff, as always and put it all into that song. Imagining what life could be like if you

never said goodbye.

FBC: What made you want to make the move from music publishing to recording your own

songs?

SB: I actually started as an artist, with development deals with dreamworks and RCA went on to a

critically acclaimed album as the duo "Sam & Ruby." I took a break from touring to focus on production and music publishing. I tend to like talking about other people more than myself when it comes to music. It was nice to be helping facilitate other talented people's careers.

FBC: Who is your country music idol and why?

SB: Man that's a tough one. I really got into country music in the 90s in the height of rock country - Garth, Tim, Bryan White, etc. I just loved how all those songs really delivered a great hook

wrapped around a clever engaging story.

FBC: What can fans expect from you next?

SB: The album is due out early 2017. I'm really excited about this project. This is my first solo

release and I really love every song, which is not an easy feat being as particular as I am with

songwriting.

FBC: What are three fun facts about you that you want your fans to know?

SB: I make really amazing Vegan Ice Cream (KOKOS Ice Cream...coming soon Nashville!!) I played

High School basketball and we won the state championship. And if I could fish every day I

would and I have to say I do try my best to make that happen.
