Our Fresh Find Shane McNulty has recently released two new singles “Inside Out” and “Hold On Girl.” We were lucky enough to get a chance to talk to Shane about these exciting new releases. Check out our interview with him below.

FBC: What is the backstory behind your newest single Inside Out?
SM: The story behind Inside Out always had a reflection, what if side to it. I think we have all felt at one time or another “if I’d only done that, or would things be different if?” So this song touches on a lot of those emotions, and the result of.

FBC: What inspired you to write “Hold On Girl”?
SM: Hold on girl is probably the closest I’ve written about one time in my life and one person. Most songs I wrote I will draw on many experiences to complete a though process, but this one lets just say “she’s the one that got away”. Hold on Girl is my favourite thus far.

FBC: How did you feel to be the winner of Pick It or Kick It five nights in a row on New Country 94 Ottawa?
SM: Yeah pick it or kick it was so cool. It’s a contest where you go head to head each night against other artists. The response and support I got for hold on girl was over whelming. We won five nights in a row! I’ll never forget the feeling of seeing the support each night, it was truly amazing.

FBC: How does it feel now to be getting airplay after all your long hard work?
SM: It feels very rewarding to be getting recognized. The AirPlay is the result of a lot of elements, all having to be realized at the same time. Hearing my song on the radio is the ultimate reward for the hours and hours of sacrifice and hardship that I’m sure anyone that has gone down this road can a test too. Recognition from radio makes it all worth while.

FBC: Tell us about your new release. What is it called and how is different from your last cd COLD BEER AND BARBED WIRED which got some nice reviews.
SM: The latest release is called inside out. Cold beer and barbwire was great for my debut album but you always want to keep raising the bar. And that’s exactly what we are trying to do.
The new cd which is called drive. Has much of the same. Most of the songs are still bits and pieces of life experiences. One difference is with the song writing itself. I think with each song, the way to portray a thought is getting better. We had some talented people who have guided me through this on going learning curve, mainly my producer Jeff Nystrom.

FBC: Who is in your band and when can we see you on the road?
SM: The band I have are all consummate professionals. There ability to create at short notice to deliver, I will always be in awe. Robert Stephan form Montreal played all guitars on the second cd, it floors me his ability to create in the studio. Jeff Nystrom plays bass and has a pool of talented musicians to round out the cast. Things are looking very exciting for the fall.
